You may receive an error message during installation because the MS Windows Installer (MSI) service needs to be installed on your system in order to run your installation.  If you received and error message, in all likelihood that service is not on your machine.  For Win98 machines without MSI you will need INSTMSIA.EXE.  You can download INSTMSIA.EXE from:  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cebbacd8-c094-4255-b702-de3bb768148f&DisplayLang=en#filelist

Once you have upgraded your Windows Installer service, you should be able to complete the desktop application installation successfully.  Depending on your IT comfort level, you may want to pass this along to IT.
